The tapeworm is made of various segments. The head, called the scolex, is what attaches to a host's intestines. The scolex also contains the nerve center. The rest of the segments of the body combine to be termed the strobila. Because of its thin shape and resemblence to a piece of tape, the worm is called a tapeworm. The various segments in the strobila are also used for excretion and reproduction, among other things.
